On Wednesday, April 12th, Dr. Spencer Andersen of The Whiplash Center of Utah made an excellent presentation on how to reduce your risks on the road. There are 8-10 car accidents a day in Southern Utah. The more lug nets (the bigger the car), the safer the car but no matter the size car you can be safe. Buckle up, adjust your head restraint so that it is 1-2 inches from your head, be sure that it is centered on your head and not your neck, adjust your seat so that you are at least 10 inches from the steering wheel and place your hands on the steering wheel at 4 and 8 o'clock.
Other important things to remember are, don't tailgate, keep a safe distance from the car ahead of you, be aware of your surroundings and anticipate the other car's move. If your expect a crash, brace yourself with your head against the restraint, hold arms on the steering wheel in lower position and press the brake as hard as you can and hold it.
